Raymond E. Vary, 97, of Acushnet, passed away on Saturday, March 28, 2015 at Bedford Village in New Bedford. He was the husband of the late Doris M. (LeDoux) Vary.

Born in Central Falls, RI, a son of the late Darius and Dora (St. Jean) Vary, he had resided in Acushnet for the past 64 years.

Mr. Vary had worked for Tilcon Construction Company in Acushnet and Cody and Tobin Scrap Iron and Metal in New Bedford. He was a member of the Laborers' International Union of North America Local 385.

Born in Central Falls, RI, a son of the late Darius and Dora (St. Jean) Vary, he had resided in Acushnet for the past 64 years.

Mr. Vary had worked for Tilcon Construction Company in Acushnet and Cody and Tobin Scrap Iron and Metal in New Bedford. He was a member of the Laborers' International Union of North America Local 385.

During World War II, he was a member of the Civilian Construction Corps. Raymond was well known in Acushnet as the hubcap and bicycle king.

His family includes two sons, Gerard Vary and his wife Sandra of West Wareham and Ronald Vary Sr. and his wife Monica of Wareham and Ocala, FL; a sister, Rita Lanoue of Pawtucket, RI; ten grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Rhea Spooner and Albert Vary and brother of the late Leo and Roland Vary.

His Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at 11am in the Sacred Heart Cemetery Chapel , 559 Mount Pleasant St., New Bedford. ln lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
