Maria Carmina Silveira Coelho, 99, of New Bedford, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 29, 2015 at home. She was the wife of the late Jeronimo Coelho.

Born in Terceira, Azores, Portugal, the daughter of the late Francisco Lindo and Maria Silveira, she came to the United States in 1967 and has resided in New Bedford ever since.

Mrs. Coelho was very devoted to her Catholic faith and was a lifetime member of the Sisters of Our Lady of Mount Carmel "Irmae do Carmo". She enjoyed reading, gardening and cooking. She was a...

Maria Carmina Silveira Coelho, 99, of New Bedford, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 29, 2015 at home. She was the wife of the late Jeronimo Coelho.

Born in Terceira, Azores, Portugal, the daughter of the late Francisco Lindo and Maria Silveira, she came to the United States in 1967 and has resided in New Bedford ever since.

Mrs. Coelho was very devoted to her Catholic faith and was a lifetime member of the Sisters of Our Lady of Mount Carmel "Irmae do Carmo". She enjoyed reading, gardening and cooking. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who loved spending time with her family.

Survivors include her six children: Francisco E. Coelho and wife Elaine of Acushnet, Isidro Coelho and wife Fatima, Maria J. Borges and husband Maximino, Joe Coelho and Ercilia Coelho all of New Bedford and Maria Coelho-Schlatter and husband Rodney of Tiverton; eleven grandchildren, Christopher Coelho and wife Jillian, Kelly Bettencourt, Jennifer Pypec and husband Richard, Carrie Patricio and husband Moseley, Steven Coelho and wife Berta, Derek Coelho and fiancé Kelly, Nicholas Borges and wife Jaslyn, Sarah Schlatter and fiance Ryan, Erica and Alexander Schlatter and Ricky Bastarache; six great-grandchildren, Camryn, Brady, Landon, Mason, Julia and Jake; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by seven brothers.

Her Funeral will be held on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at 9am from the Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford with a Funeral Mass at 10am in Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church, 136 Earle St., New Bedford.
