Antonio A. Borges, age 71, passed away at his residence on June 12, 2017, surrounded by his loving family.

Antonio was born in Nordeste, Sao Miguel, Azores, to the late Clemente Borges and the late Maria Ascensao (Amaral) Borges. Antonio immigrated to the Unites States in 1970 and made his home in New Bedford, MA with his wife Gabriela (Medeiros) Borges of 45 years.

Antonio last worked for Johnson & Johnson as a machinist until his retirement in 2010. He enjoyed volunteering at the Our Lady of Angels Band in New Bedford, were he was a Director. He had great pride in their band and could always be found at one of their rehearsals, with a smile on his face. He loved traveling and sharing his experiences with his children and grandchildren. He cherished spending time with his family and friends, which often included good food and a good bottle of wine. He believed in taking chances, the importance of helping others, and always opened up his home to those who needed it.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Lisa Franco and her husband David of Phoenix, AZ, Steve Borges of New Bedford, and Jason Borges and his wife Adrienne of Alexandria, VA; his three grandchildren Noah Franco, Lucas Franco, and Matthias Borges; his sister, Maria Dilia Simas of New Bedford; his brothers: Luis Borges and his wife Teresa of Canada, and Jose Gilberto Borges of New Bedford; and three Godchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother Denis Borges.
